Exchange opportunities
Erasmus
The Erasmus programme enables students to complete part of their studies at a European partner university, allowing them to get to know other university systems with new teaching methods. The aim of the European Union's mobility programme is to promote cooperation between universities within the EU and other European countries. It also aims to facilitate student mobility. With this in mind, the ERASMUS programme offers exemption from tuition fees and a small monthly mobility allowance, simplification of the registration process at partner faculties, and support from an academic contact person.
Examination results obtained during your stay at partner universities abroad can be recognised at Heidelberg University. Nevertheless, you should discuss your course selection with the programme coordinator.
The HCCH currently has a partnership agreement with University College Dublin in Ireland. Further agreements are in the pipeline. It is also possible to apply for exchange places at our partner institutes. If you are interested, please contact the programme coordinator.
4EU+
It is possible to visit other partner universities for a semester/academic year as part of the European University Alliance 4EU+, combined with an Erasmus+ scholarship. The University of Milan, with its Cultural Heritage Conservation Science programme, and the University of Copenhagen, with its Applied Cultural Analysis programme, are particularly suitable options.
Those interested can also contact the 4EU+ office at Heidelberg University directly.
CHEREX: Cultural Heritage Exchange Heidelberg - Manchester
As part of the cooperation with the University of Manchester funded by the BW Foundation, two scholarships are awarded annually for an exchange with the University of Manchester (MA programmes in Heritage Studies). The scholarship amount is €1,200 per month, and the duration of the stay is four months.
If you are interested, please submit the following documents in English to Michaela Böttner (boettner@uni-heidelberg.de). The deadline will be announced shortly.
- Letter of Motivation (1 page)
- CV
- Transcript of Records
If you have any questions, please contact Chiara Montebello or Michaela Böttner.
International internships
An internship abroad allows you to apply the expertise you have acquired during your studies and gain initial professional experience. Finding a suitable internship requires a great deal of initiative and individual planning, as there is no standardised application process for internships abroad. Funding for a stay abroad is available, for example, through the ERASMUS Placement Programme.
Coimbra Group
Students at Heidelberg University can apply for an exchange at one of the partner universities as part of the Coimbra Group's Student Exchange Network. The Coimbra Group is a network of renowned European universities. Within this network, 19 universities in 14 countries are available for the exchange programme.
