Inclusive Studies at HCCH
The Heidelberg Centre for Cultural Heritage (HCCH) supports Heidelberg University’s efforts to ensure that all students can enjoy an inclusive and as accessible as possible university experience.

Our Stance
We regard diversity as an integral part of university life and as an asset to our shared learning, teaching and research. At the HCCH, we aim to create an open, respectful and supportive atmosphere in which students from different backgrounds, with different experiences and perspectives, feel welcome and can contribute on an equal footing.
We are committed to breaking down barriers, making access easier and creating a learning environment characterised by mutual respect, so that we can all benefit from each other’s individual strengths and insights. This also involves recognising individual needs and working together to find suitable solutions within the limits of our capabilities.
If students have any questions or require support, they can contact the programme coordinator, Chiara Montebello, or the managing director, Michaela Böttner, at the HCCH at any time. Michaela Böttner is a GUIDE support counsellor and a certified mental health first aider.
The Team Inklusives Studieren (Inclusive Studies Team) at Heidelberg University is always available as the first point of contact at the university.
A Selection of other Resources
- UNIFY
Anyone who experiences or witnesses discrimination, inappropriate behaviour or boundary-crossing need not face such experiences alone. Support is available, amongst other things, from the confidential advisors within the GUIDE scheme, the university’s procedure for dealing with conflicts and misconduct. They form part of the university’s anti-discrimination network, offer a low-threshold and confidential first point of contact, and can refer you to suitable counselling services and contact persons if necessary. Confidential Advisors come from all status groups; you will find a link to the list of all university Confidential Advisors on the right. At the HCCH, Michaela Böttner is available at any time as a Confidential Advisor and first point of contact. Like all Confidential Advisors, she is bound by a duty of confidentiality.
If you experience discrimination at the university, you can also contact UNIFY at any time. UNIFY is the central body at Heidelberg University responsible for work-life balance, diversity, equality and anti-discrimination.
- Psychosocial counseling for students (PCS)
