About
Chiara Montebello, M.A., is the study program manager for the M.A. Cultural Heritage and Protection of Cultural Property at Heidelberg University. She holds a B.A. in Culture and Business with a major in Italian Studies from the University of Mannheim and spent a semester abroad at the University of Palermo. She completed her M.A. in the same program with a thesis on decolonial perspectives on the museum documentation and presentation of Sámi objects.
Her research explores provenance studies, the history of ethnographic collections, and museum practices of decolonization and representation. Her doctoral project examines Sámi collections in German museums in transnational comparison with Scandinavian contexts, addressing historical, epistemic, and ethical dimensions of colonial knowledge production within the museum field.
