FAQ: Thesis
Finding a topic
At the end of your studies, you will write a detailed academic paper on a selected topic related to cultural heritage and/or cultural property protection. The topic of your MA thesis may arise from your studies or from your internship. The professors are available to support you in this process. Based on dialogue with your supervisor, you will develop your own differentiated research question and implement it in a self-organised academic presentation, drawing on sources, methods and theory and critically evaluating current research.
MA theses in this programme should also be based on independent empirical research (of an appropriate scope) and/or recognisably independent, methodologically guided analyses (e.g. analyses of text or video documents, exhibitions).
Supervisors
For your MA thesis, you will need two supervisors, one of whom must be from the HCCH, while the other may be from another institution.
